Cardioart was created by a team of cardiac surgeons, photographers, and film‑making enthusiasts who believe that heart surgery is not only life‑saving but also an extraordinary form of art.

Our mission is to share the beauty, precision, and human stories behind each operation through high‑definition video recordings and photographs, allowing both professionals and the curious public to appreciate the craftsmanship of modern cardiac care.

Members

Prof. Dr. med. Alexander Albert

Alexander Albert is Professor of Cardiac Surgery, Medical Director at Klinikum Dortmund, Germany, faculty member at the private University of Witten/Herdecke, and specialist advisor to the Institute for Quality Assurance and Transparency in Health Care (IQTIG). His clinical and academic work focuses on the advancement of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG).

Building on the pioneering techniques of Paul Sergeant, he has performed off-pump coronary artery bypass surgery (OPCAB) as his preferred revascularization strategy for all patients since 2004. Since 2009, his particular interest has focused on integrating minimally invasive coronary surgery techniques (MICS-CABG) into routine clinical practice, as well as further developing and standardizing these approaches, including multivessel MIDCAB procedures. He has extensive experience in implementing departmental transformation and quality-management processes in cardiac surgery. Since 2010, he has directed an international Medtronic training center for OPCAB, MIDCAB, and multivessel MIDCAB procedures, currently based at Klinikum Dortmund.

Dr. med. Radi Wieloch

Dr. med. Radi Wieloch works in heart surgery at the BG Universitaetsklinikum Bergmannsheil Bochum, Germany. He transferred from heart surgery at the Universitaetsklinikum Duesseldorf, Germany, which followed research and development of artificial hearts and ECMO systems at the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center in Osaka, Japan.

His particular interest is high-tech medicine, especially bionics. Combining medical expertise, years of clinical experience at the surgery table and in intensive care medicine with extensive knowledge in information and communications technology, he has an unrelenting commitment to technological progress. He thinks that the most important thing in life is life itself. That every individual is infinitely precious. And that we should use our technology and art to make it possible for people to live a long and pleasant life.
